Today’s topic is meditation. Now, you might be like I was several years ago. Actually, probably 25 or 30 years ago was when I first tried meditation and at that time I had not been exposed to mindfulness meditation which is very popular right now and I really want to encourage you to give it a try. So there are so many benefits of calming your mind; healing, reducing stress, you probably know all about that. I just want to share today, a tool with you, that I think will make incorporating mindfulness meditation into your daily practice so much easier because if you’ve tried to do it on your own, you may have been like I was years ago, very frustrated that my monkey mind and my thoughts just did not seem to stop entirely, and that’s not really the point of mindfulness meditation. So, rather than try to explain to you what it is and how to do it, I want to suggest that you try out a free app called Headspace. So, Headspace is accessible on your iPhone or Android phone and it’s this one here with the little orange circle and you can get a free version of Headspace and it allows you to try 10 different 10 minute guided meditations, and what is so awesome, I feel like this guy explains how to do mindfulness meditation in one of the most straight forward simplest ways I’ve ever seen. I’ve recommended it to hundreds of my patients and many of them don’t ever purchase the paid version. They just keep repeating the once a day ten minute ten day series and really benefit without ever going deeper into the more detailed ones offered by this company. So, I suggest that you try out Headspace and really commit to trying to do 10 minutes every day for 10 days in a row. Maybe you’ll miss a day or two, but make that your goal and see if it changes your life. I think that it may, maybe in subtle ways, and for many of my patients, in very profound ways. So, I would love your feedback when you’ve given Headspace a try.
